First Day of Summer Biking Adventure!

As I'm sure you know, yesterday was the first day of Summer and longest day of the year. What better way to celebrate than with my first bike ride over the Williamsburg Bridge of the season?!

If you followed my blogs over here from myspace (or read far enough back), you may remember the first time I ever made this trip. That was a monumental achievement and milestone for me. Just as the title states, I really will remember that night forever. I still remember how proud I was of myself- how AMAZED I was that I was able to make that trip.

Since I haven't done it in over 6 months, I was a little nervous about my first time this season - but I know I am even stronger than the last time I did it, so I reassured myself that I would be fine.

I was full of excitement at the base of the bridge as I began the ascent. Sure enough, even though I hadn't climbed that steep ramp in about 8 months, it seemed even easier than I remembered.

I took a bunch of pictures (you can see all my biking adventure pictures on Flickr), but I am going to post a handful here-

Me at the top of the bridge!

Me!

The sun was so red as it set last night. I love the way it looks through the steel of the bridge-

What a spectacular sunset

The ramp back up from the Manhattan side-

Cycling up the ramp from the NYC side

Me again

After returning back to the base of the bridge on the Brooklyn side-

The entire trip wasn't even remotely strenuous or tiring (and I had done pilates AND cardio earlier that day!). I am still so impressed with how far I have come; how physically fit I am now. That bike ride reminded me of it all over again.

It was a beautiful day, weather wise - and thanks to this trip - a totally memorable first day of summer. I'm looking forward to many more trips over the Williamsburg Bridge and other summer biking adventures!
