And on that note, one of the things that stuck with me today were the queries generated about my sparkly eye shadow. (as seen here-)
I'm so in love with it that I wanted to mention the brand in an upcoming post, but then I had an a-ha moment to *show* you instead!
So even though it has nothing to do with my Weight Watchers journey, I thought you'd get a kick out of finally seeing & hearing me in action. I'll let my real life friends judge, but I think this is probably an accurate representation of me & my personality? I didn't do any test runs because I didn't want it to be rehearsed and polished. This was my first take. Enjoy!
I was even able to watch that without cringing! That's progress! Maybe I'll incorporate videos on a regular basis now. And perhaps they'll even be topical! ;) What was I so afraid of?
(Here's a link to the product - the color I have is "distortion" but I totally need to go back and buy the pink one!)

you are adorable! :) LOVE the eyeshadow!
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! And I love how I am not the only native New Yorker with NO New York accent! I was born in Manhattan, and raised in Brooklyn... and no one can ever tell :) You are simply adorable. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks Eden!
ReplyDeleteMilhan - people are often disappointed by my lack of a NY accent. But my ex husband used to tell me that it comes out: when I just wake up, when I'm angry, when I'm drunk and when I'm around my family. I guess all the times my guard is down ;)
I love this! And I love the new blog background, too. You're awesome, Sheryl!
ReplyDeleteI love it!! Slightly awkward but totally cute. Agreed "adorable" is a good word -- PLEASE video blog more! Ah... you're my favorite person.
ReplyDeleteI get that! My husband's Brooklyn accent really comes out when he is tired, lol! I talk fast, and gesture with my hands... but no discernable accent. :)
ReplyDeleteI was just in Sephora this afternoon, darnit! I was hoping you would say what the product was. This video was fun and I hope you do more of them. You really are adorable!
ReplyDeleteAre.. are you in your lingerie?? how fucking adorable is that lingerie!! and you wear that to bed?? without anyone else around??
ReplyDeletei am so ...envious lol
Yep. It's now verified that you CANNOT get any cuter. Sigh, I wanna be you when I grow up. ;)
ReplyDeleteOf course I'm in fancy lingerie! I like being fancy and pretty all the time. It's a sickness, I tell you. (And I wish there were someone here to enjoy it... other than the cats. But at least I enjoy seeing it!)
ReplyDeleteLove it! I was sure you were going to have a thick NY accent and be totally tough. Now I'm not nearly as scared to say hi if I see you on the street.
ReplyDeleteMy husband always says that he can tell I'm talking to my family on the phone when he hears my Long Island accent.
Also, your arms look even more awesome moving than in still pics.
Going to go to Sephora tomorrow to see if I can find some fabulous sparkly eyeshadow!
ReplyDelete=)
you're even more stunning and inspiring on video! x
ReplyDeleteYou are so pretty and adorable!! So cute how you even look like a pinup when your going to bed. I need to get that eyeshadow!
ReplyDeleteLove your video! :) I don't really comment, but I also read your blog all the time (thanks to my mom spunkysuzi who first linked it to me :) ) You're so inspiring! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, you're beautiful. You look great in the photos as well, but seeing you on video is something else. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteyou're so cute! and so thin. dear god, you're adorable.
ReplyDeleteGirl you are ADORABLE!!! Any man that had the chance to be with you and is not jumping with insane joy (ahem you know who) is an idiot!
ReplyDeletehaha my husband would DIE if I went to bed lookin' like that. Seems we have way more then weightloss tips to learn from you!
Thanks, everyone! I will surely make this a regular feature - the video blogs. But I will keep them weight/activity related. I'm excited about this! Thanks for all the positive feedback and nice comments.
ReplyDeleteFor the record: Everyone should go to bed looking fabulous. In fact, I believe in looking fabulous whenever possible! It makes you feel better and it makes people smile, so why wouldn't you do it?
Skaleidoscopic: I can't believe you called me "thin". Wow. Thank you!
HEART IT! It was super fun to see your video chica. Lurve the blog amucho!!!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful Sheryl, I am living for you lately!
ReplyDeleteThe lace is wonderful, it just gets no better.
I love the nightie. Didn't expect any less. If it's a sickness then I have it too. At all times, must be cute and adorable. That and I can't imagine wearing much more to bed than a baby doll. Tee shirts, no thank you. Comfy pants? Don't even own them.
ReplyDeleteYou own any vintage pieces? They are some of my favorites.
So I also just watched Sal from Already Pretty on video for the first time, and also you... and I have the same reaction: you both seem so adorable and sweet in video! I think more authenticity comes through in video. Anyway, thanks for posting this.
ReplyDeleteThere's something about video as opposed to photos that highlights how delicate you are now
ReplyDeleteFabulous, just fabulous
And I totally love the light pink version (Groupie) of the eye colour, which figures as it's the only one sold out!
Your arms look awesome! I don't know what a NY accent sounds like - I am Australian and you just sound very very American to me. And grown up.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't all the makeup rub off on your pillow though?
I <3 you. Thanks for kicking ass.
ReplyDeleteSheryl, you are too cute for words! Thanks for the video blog. Just reading your blog makes me feel like I've known you for years and now to have your voice as well makes it even more fun. You have totally inspired me since I started reading your blog the first part of December-2010. I have gone back to WW and lost 10 lbs. my first month-December!! I love your spirit and your passion for life! I mean this sincerely....you have challenged me to be a better person~ wife, mom & friend.... and to take care of myself better by eating whole food and moving more!! You would make a fabulous life/weight loss coach!! Thank you again for the inspiration!!
ReplyDeleteAww you're so cute...I love the video and being able to hear your voice. Thanks for posting!
ReplyDeleteYou have the CUTEST voice!!! It's so soft! I was expecting a very strong New York accent!!! LOL
ReplyDeleteThoroughly enjoyed the video - does make a difference and like the new blog style too.
ReplyDeleteYou are too cute.
ReplyDeleteThat was awesome!!! You are awesome! Ty for sharing that vid :D I *love* UD . . . mostly because a huge part of their line is dedicated to awesome vegan makeup. Thank you Sheryl - your blog rocks.
ReplyDeleteLovely eyeshadow!
ReplyDeleteI don't know why, but in my head you sounded like Mae West, and made comments as quick witted (I still fully believe you are as quick witted as her!) "Its not the men in your life, it's the life in your men!"
Finally, it's the Sheryl Show--your dad will be so proud! I stumbled on your blog awhile back. I've been following for some time but never commented before but, I want to tell you that I am yet another reader that you have inspired to join WW. So, thanks for that (20 lbs. so far--yay me!). Sometimes, as I read your blog I find a number of odd similarities. Both Leos, around the same age, working in radiology (I'm a tech)... Then when I read you grew up on Matilda Street--holy moly, that's my daughter's name. We may have a cosmic connection, I'm just sayin'. Keep up the fabulous work Doll!
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling Sephora will be running out of Urban Decay eye shadow :) You are so freaking cute!
ReplyDeleteYou are too adorable Sheryl, thanks for sharing! Susie
ReplyDeleteYep, we all agree. You ARE adorable. Don't stay away too long. :D
ReplyDeleteTotally natural! Love it!!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love. More, more, more
ReplyDeleteTania
Thank you for the video blog - it give a different perspective on you. The tone I read in my head is different than the one you use in person - good luck to you on your major life change, whatever it is. I find change very stimulating.
ReplyDeleteAnd you look great!
I agree with LMH. Also, the real you is way better than the one I hear in my head. You're funnier.
ReplyDeleteTania
This is so completely adorable, and I am so glad you did it. It has inspired me to maybe try one myself. P.S. - you are looking hot lady!!! :)
ReplyDeleteHey Sheryl! It's lovely to hear your voice! Thanks for posting! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHi Sheryl! I went to check your other blogs today and see that you now have to be invited to view them. Is this a permanent thing? Can I be invited? I love all your blogs, but this one in particular has actually had a profound effect on my life since I discovered it about 6 months ago and I would love to keep reading your other blogs too. Congrats on all you have achieved, and thanks for helping me in ways you will never know all the way over here in Australia! x
ReplyDeleteYes that was a cute vid, and keep doing more. One small suggestion, though. Windex that mirror - I couldn't ignore the gunk on it!
ReplyDeletere: the 'gunk on the mirror' - that mirror is 80 years old. It's just aged, not dirty.
ReplyDeleteWhy did I picture you with a Brooklyn accent? Nice to know there is another Born and Raised who doesn't have the "typical" New Yawk accent!
ReplyDeleteLove it, Sheryl!
ReplyDeleteSheryl, your fabulosity has no bounds! All the best to you!!! K
ReplyDeleteDuring these years, you've written about being a control freak and a tough lady to deal with - a bitch. However, I haven't been able to see the bitch side. Me you've always struck as an energetic, efficient person who is friends with everyone. Competent, dynamic, productive, yes, but at the same time the most kind and heartily. When I saw this video I knew I've been right all along. Instead of being noisy and feisty you are delicate, sentimental... you know, sweet. Those slightly shy glances at the camera/mirror, that happy, gentle voice of yours... You are truly adorable. All the best,
ReplyDeleteBerlinerin
Great feature! Your adorable!
ReplyDeleteWho says you're not adorably animated? Phsaw!
ReplyDeleteI know this wasn't easy for you to post a video blog but I think it's a great way to share a snippet of your world with people and I, for one, thank you!
That was really fun. Maybe that reality show your Dad wants you to do could actually happen! ;)
ReplyDeleteOh God. I need more eye makeup like I need another hole in my head... but I can't resist.. it's just too damn sparkly and cute.
ReplyDelete*clicks Sephora link and gets out wallet*
It's great that you pushed through your video-fear and did this! I think it's still on topic because It's a total NSV!! You are adorable and your voice is really pretty and much more youthful than I'd imagined; because your writing voice is 'old and wise' not because you look old! :) (And the eyeshadow is fab!)
ReplyDeleteHi :)
ReplyDeleteI've never commented before, but I've been a reader for a while now.
I just had to tell you that you are so incredibly inspiring to me. I know you probably hear/read that all the time, but you REALLY ARE. Personally, you've inspired me to:
-do something active on the weekends, which are the days I have a hard time sticking to plan (I'm in awe of your workout dedication!)
-Give up processed junk and go natural!
-and most recently, you make me want to go out and buy some pretty lingerie. "For the record: Everyone should go to bed looking fabulous" I AGREE!
You're so fantastic-love the video post, you look amazing-just look at your collar bones!! xoxo
I have to agree with everyone - you SUPER darn cute! I don't know why I am surprised that you seem so delicate too.
ReplyDeleteI love meeting another New Yorker without the accent. Mine comes out at the same times as well. Oh, and but of course love the lingerie and the eye shadow. My wallet says thanks for spawning another obsession. :)
You look awesome! You have such a distinct style ... I see nothing wrong with fashion and style posts! That's part of life and weightless too isn't it?
ReplyDeleteHave to ask where the nightie is from? Love it!
You should be proud of yourself...makes you more "real" ...you are very photogenic and that comes acroos in your video blog as well..good luck to you ...
ReplyDeletei TOTALLY was expecting a different voice! i dont know why!
ReplyDeleteyou should do this more!!!!!!
and i am now going to go get some of that sparkly eye stuff!!
I love the video! You're as cute as a button . You inspire me. I'm 41, but I want to be just like you when I grown up. You are a true inspiration and truly adorable.!
ReplyDeleteOK, that was fun! I agree that you could be on television. You have the "it" factor.
ReplyDeleteLOVE!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are right, you have no accent!!!
Would love to see/hear more of those =)
LPM
Yay! Love the video post. Now I have an idea about what to do with those Sephora gift cards that are burning a hole in my purse...Keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteOh so happy to hear and see you! I hope this is the one of the first of many. You are adorable animated, we just need to get you a tripod and you'll be hands free!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE IT! You have a great voice!
ReplyDeleteSheryl, the video blog was great!
ReplyDeleteGive us more. :~D
This is the first time I've felt like I absolutely HAVE to comment even though I've been reading for many months now.
ReplyDeleteThe vlog was great, keep it up!
And I'm running out on my lunch break to Sephora to check out this eye makeup because it looks fabulous in the pictures. Does it get itchy as it dries?
As a real life friend, yep, accurate! In real life you are even more smiley and animated and you laugh a lot. Which is all good. :)
ReplyDeleteYou're awesome, Sheryl! I don't really comment, but I also read your blog all the time! Thanks for the video blog. Just reading your blog makes me feel good. I love your positive spirit and your passion for life!
ReplyDeleteLove, love and love!
You are rocking it in that video!! One of these days I'm going to beg you to do my make-up or teach me in person. You are definitely the most put-together, fabulous person I've ever met.
ReplyDeleteAnyhoo, why don't you answer all the questions you get via video to save you time from typing everything out. Bill Clinton does that actually.
Was hoping to see the Sergeant galloping by.
LOVED this! You look amazing, too. I fell in love with Urban Decay when I was in 9th grade. They used to sell it at "Hot Topic" right next to Manic Panic! LOL! I loved the colors and the names of the colors, too.
ReplyDelete*hugs*
You look even thinner on camera...isn't is supposed to be the other way around? :) More video blogs!
ReplyDeleteCool! You sound exactly as I thought you would ;D
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your blog. I read it everyday and also follow you on twitter. You are so inspirational. I just wanted to tell you that since i've been reading your blog for about six months. I heard about your blog in a WW meeting in Houston, tx. Yes, we know about you in Texas. YEAH. Thanks so much.Keep up the awesomeness!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely adorable! I can't wait for more video blogs from you! You are and awesome inspiration for me!
ReplyDeleteI have been reading your blog(s) for over a year...and this is the first time I have to comment. You're awesome. Super cute..and I would use the word "soft" to describe your voice.
ReplyDeleteLove the video blog..hope you do it again! :) Happy new year!
SO very glad you did the vlog! thank you! It's great to hear/see you in person. I was shocked by how thin you look! I agree with the other person that the camera makes you look even thinner than the pics! You look great! I hear the accent a bit but just on a couple of words.
ReplyDeleteI think this is my first time commenting after following you for so long.... I had to say how FREAKING ADORABLE you are! I usually hate hearing voices of bloggers cuz I've built them up in my head as having a particular way of talking, but yours is fabulous! More videos, please. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh my!!!! Your voice is so sexy abd totally not what I expected it to be (been reading you for years). Now I think I have a little crush on you !!!! Must run and tell my husband I've cheated with my thoughts lol. You are awesome.
ReplyDeleteToo cool my 2 favorite things wrapped up in 1!!! Makeup and WW!!! You should do more vlogs!!!
ReplyDeleteSweetie, if you enjoy the fancy pj's then wear them. :-) I wear my hair up constantly, but when I let it down, it's just about knee-length. I get asked why I have it -- since no one sees it, what's the point?
ReplyDeleteWell, I like it. I'm the point. :-)
I'll watch this tonight when I'm home -- no video blogs for me at work, sadly.
LOL! WHO is going to look at the eyeliner part when you are wearing that baby doll nightie??? Get ready for the deluge...very cute video!
ReplyDeleteFormerly fivefootwo
Very happy to see AND hear you! It adds a whole other dimension to your blog. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteThis was totally cute. You should write about "why" you want to look pretty. Many with weight issues do not "doll" themselves up because they dont want too be "seen" or noticed. I know I wore baggy clothes no makeup and dark clothes. Now 129 pounds lighter I wear form fitting clothes makeup great shoes and bright clothes. Still have the earth colors as my base though. :) So to this day I still work on it. As a WW leader i tell my members this all the time "dont wait! Love yourself now there is no fear and loathing in weight loss." It takes time but I LOVE watching my members be born again and become beautiful from the inside out. I think the weight loss world would benefit from your perspective on this. In fact I will tell all my members to frequent your web site. I do quite a few meetings and I have "earned" their trust so they will come to your web site. Thank you so much!
ReplyDeletePS You will have a man come your way its the law of attraction. It will come. Just keep taking care of yourself. He just better be secure enough to have you be "shared" with us!! I am sure he will be.
Very cool to see & hear you!
ReplyDeleteJust curious, have you always worn cute lingerie or is it something that happened with weight loss? I just feel too fat, but when I was thin I loved it.
ReplyDeleteI've never commented before.. I've just been lurking, but I just wanted to agree with all the others; You sound adorable and look awesome!!
ReplyDeleteI think more videoblogs seem like a very good idea!
-Louise (a loyal reader in Denmark)
super, super, super skinny! Skinner than you look in pictures, your arms are so tiny. Way to go you! I have followed you for years, never commented and knew you were awesome, but seeing you on video you can soooooo see how super skinny you are. You.Are.Amazing!
ReplyDeleteLoved the vid, please make more! And the beauty addict in me is telling you to buy the Urban Decay vegan palette =) xxx
ReplyDeleteYou are as adorable on video as you are in real life! Glad you posted this!
ReplyDeleteLoved the video!! More, please....
ReplyDeleteI also wanted to say that I really appreciate the fact that you write about the weekly meeting topics. I find your summaries insightful and thought-provoking. My meetings are on Saturdays, so after reading your weekly post, I have a chance to think about what is going to be discussed and feel I get a lot more out of my meeting.
Thank you!
Oh please - more vlogs - I love it!!!!!!!! Is calling you adorable patronising? I don't know, but I totally don't mean it in a patronising way, since I practically hero worship you :o)
ReplyDeleteHow cute are you?!?! Loved the video, hope you'll do more. You are such an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteLoved the video! Loved the combo of seeing you and hearing you. So great!
ReplyDeleteThis voice is deeper & sexier than I expected. I must admit I see you as a precious little cartoon character and seeing you "live" was super neat! Thanks for showing!
ReplyDeleteWOW! This is some response!!
ReplyDeletelove that eyeshadow..your such an inspiration.
ReplyDeleteAdorable! More videos please!
ReplyDelete"Im so greasy" ... haha! you are so 1 of my favoritest people
ReplyDeleteYou are, in fact, adorably animated.
ReplyDeleteI didn't think you could be more adorable, but now I know that I was wrong. :) I'm so glad you shared the video with us!!!
ReplyDeleteLove it!! Thanks for being brave and posting the Vlog. I think you are just adorable. :)
ReplyDeleteYes your dad is right - you need your own TV show because you definitely got the looks and the voice for TV! And it looks like it's unanimous that you should keep doing video blogs! Love reading about your weight loss journey, your biking/running adventures and your sense of style! You are wonderful! Shaz
ReplyDeleteYou are too cute! Normally I skip video posts, but the couple I've seen from you are totally entertaining. And that eyeshadow looks great; I especially love the crisp perfect-ness of the photo!
ReplyDeleteI love this! I have so many questions for you and never can remember to ask them! Mostly about your clean foods and stuff!
ReplyDeleteI think you should video blog more. I tried it once and it absolutely didn't work out!
Wow, you remind me of my big sister; all petite and cute and girly but also down to earth and womanly. Thanks for this blog.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to ask, though, what's that fluffy pink thing in the first shot? I paused it, but I couldn't tell.
You did great! More please!
ReplyDeleteThat was fun :)
ReplyDeleteYou are such a lady.
ReplyDeleteI almost can't stand how charming you are!! I LOVE IT!!!
ReplyDeletewell, I must say you are an inspiration!
ReplyDeleteOMG you are so adorable! I love your little vid and you totally do look teeny tiny.
ReplyDeleteFantastic. Your voice sounds nothing like the voice in my head when I read your blogs, its soooooooooo much better.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Love the new background with your bike and the pink doorway.
ReplyDeleteJust when I thought your blog couldn't get any better... I love the new background and you have now covered all my favorite topics - the psychology of weight loss, vegan health and nutrition, exercise and fitness, and sparkly eye shadow! The video blog was great and I would love to see more.
ReplyDeleteYour arms look awesome!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been able to talk in any of my exercise demos yet bc I'm afraid to here my own voice! CRAZY.
ReplyDeleteSince starting a blog I have answers to peoples questions consuming my mind as well and I get a lot less then you, I'd probably go crazy with that much going on in my head!
Loved your video, hopefully I'll get the courage to actually talk in mine :D
You. Rock.
ReplyDeleteThat is all.
You Rock!
Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI love the eyeshadow. The vlog is cool and you look so fit! your one of my inspirations at the moment. You really do look amazing. Well done :)
